xAs you may have noticed, we’ve just put up a list of the first shows and conventions which have booked our boy CJ as a guest in 2011. Some are classics he never misses, and some are excursions to new and exotic lands from which we hope he returns in one piece.

But, the big news as far as we’re concerned, is the fact that he’s going to be a guest for the first time ever at one of the legendary DORIAN’S PARLOR evenings. It’s coming up in just a few weeks on Saturday, January 22nd, and anyone in the area of Philadelphia, PA, should consider checking it out. Just hop over to www.doriansparlor.com to get an idea of what a wild and crazy event this is. Once you see what kind of antics they get into there, considering ol’ CJ’s going to be there as well, how can you resist?

xWell, here's one we've been waiting for for a while now. The sequel to CJ's stunning success, Brooklyn Knight, was apparently held up as they waited for the original cover artist to do a new painting for Central Park Knight. Turns out his schedule never allowed him time enough to get to it, so a new artist was brought in, and all we can say is WOW! Some times things are worth waiting for. Yep, it might have taken a bit of extra time, but come may when the book hits the stands with this cover, we here think the wait will have been worth it. And so, without further adieu, we present one of the coolest covers ever to grace a CJ Henderson novel. Enjoy!

Hello, everyone. This is CJ talking straight to you for once. Please, anyone in the NYC area, take a look at one of the following links, and consider attending this unique event. All of the shows put on by promoter Jeff Mach have proved to be outstanding, and I say that whether I've been a participant or not. Indeed, I'm not even certain I can be at this one (I have PhilCon that weekend), but I urge everyone looking for a good time to consider this great opportunity to try something completely different. The event is detailed at www.theanachronismnyc.com/, or www.facebook.com/event.php
?eid=138213626227087
on Facebook. Read it over carefully, but be assured, Mr. Mach is one of the most honest, respectable, and yet wildly entertaining men in the business. I can not imagine that a good time will not be had.

Hi ... this is CJ talking to you all directly for once. I've admired and enjoyed the work of Bill Plympton for years. A sweet young filmmaker is producing a documentary on this terrific animator and what I'm up to here is, I'm asking folks to just pop over through the link below to take a look at what she's up to. I figure fellow fans of Plympton will be interested. Enjoy.

xWell, here comes yet another new anthology with our boy CJ in it. Several things of note this time around. First, this one features a new short story starring Piers Knight, the hero of his big, breakout series from Tor. Second, fun, fun, fun, this one is actually coming from a Canadian publisher. A lot of CJ's works are available north of the US border, but this is the first time an original work of his is being published there. And third, as you can already see, it's got one of the classiest covers we've seen around here since ... well ... since "Brooklyn Knight." the first book in the Piers Knight series. Can't wait for this one!

xSeptember 20, 2010

Well, it has been a while, but things are starting to roll off the assembly line floor for our boy CJ once more. The first of a new string of anthologies he appears in is reaching the printing stage. Boondocks Fantasy sounds like a nifty collection, moving the whole idea of fantasy out of the urban settings everyone has gotten so comfortable with, and back outdoors, where it all started in the first place. Word is there are some heavy-hitters in this one. More news on that later, but for now, here's the cover to enjoy.

xSeptember 6, 2010

Well, there's good news for all those fans of our boy CJ's Rocky & Noodles stories. Space Horrors is finally ready, and will be on the stands no later than October 1st! It contains the fourth story in CJ's Tales of the Roosevelt series, and if anyone notes a few send-ups of Classic Trek in this one, oh ... we're sure they're an accident. More fun from our favorite science fiction military musical comedy writer!

Hey, gang---here's something exciting. A two hour pod cast with our boy CJ not only answering questions from the pod caster, but a packed audience as well! Just click and listen... it's just that easy!!

There's a new widevision graphic novel coming from Moonstone featuring the star of this website handling a whole gaggle of old pulp characters. We won't bore you with the details here. Just click on the link below and go read an interview with CJ and the artist, and get a first peek at the cover and some of the interior panels. Looks like great stuff once more from our boy CJ!

Here we go again. Seems ol’ CJ has been cranking out the stories lately. For all the vampire fans out there, New Blood has finally hit the stands, and our boy is in there with a brand new story featuring the crazed newsmen of his Challenge of the Unknown series. Also on board for this blood-sucking extravaganza are such notables as Jonathan Maberry, Linda Addison, Bernie Mojzes, KT Pinto, Hildy Silverman and a whole slew more. Some months, it’s just time to go to the book store!

June 20, 2010

Another new anthology for our boy CJ. This time around, it’s science fiction. Barbarians at the Jumpgate is built around stories concerned with technologically backward civilizations coming up against more advanced ones. It’s a great little package, featuring all kinds of good authors. John Sunseri, R. Allen Leider and Danielle Ackley-McPhail are in there, as well as some other fine folk. But, not as many as you might suspect, since our boy CJ got a whopping four of the fourteen slots available! E-Yow! Way to go.

Well, at long last, not only are the award-winning anthologies Bad-Ass Faeries and Bad-Ass Faeries: Just Plain Bad back in print, but BAF3, In All Their Glory has finally been released as well. The new volume, the thickest one yet, is packed with great authors--folks like Patrick Thomas, James Chambers, and sensational up-and-comer Robert Waters. Oh, and of course, our own loveable CJ. All we can say is ... it’s about time!

June 02 , 2010

Okay, we’ll admit it--we’re stumped. If you’re wondering when our boy CJ ever gets the chance to sleep, well, we’re wondering the same thing. It seems every time we turn around these days our fearless leader has a new anthology coming out. This time, in Dragon’s Lure, it’s stories not just about dragons, but the things which attract them--gold, virgins, the moon, et cetera. Another fat collection of stories created by folks like John Grant, Mike Penncavage, CE Murphy, Keith DeCandido, Dave B Coe and a big bunch more. And of course, our boy CJ. It never ends!

Here's some fun. Padwolf Publishing has just released "Dead to Rites," a collection of Patrick Thomas' Agent Karver stories. So, why is that newsworthy in this column? Outside of the fact we love all of Thomas' work, this particular volume features two stories with team ups between Thomas' Agent Karver and our boy CJ's Lai Wan. More than that, one of the pair features a three-way team up: Karver, Lai Wan, and John French's Bianca Jones. Head over to the store and grab this one right away!

xApril 10, 2010

Well, here's some fun. Below is the cover for a new Moonstone widevision project put together by our boy CJ. It's a pulp era team-up featuring, as you can see on the cover, The Phantom Detective, The Domino Lady, Secret Agent X, the Black Bat, and the biggest surprise of all, the most famous of the pulp-era flying aces, G-8 and his Battle Aces!! It all takes place in the opening days of World War II--bullets, bloodshed and things from beyond! Another instant classic on its way from the Halcyon Henderson House of Wonder ... or something like that.

Huzzah ... another new CJ book has just hit the stands. This time it’s the collected stories of Blakely and Boles. Our boy has been doing tales of these two college professors that investigate the bizarre and unusual things of the world for several years, and now they’ve been put together in the book, "Where Angels Fear." It’s not available here at the store yet, but keep your eyes open for it. Not only does it contain all the stories CJ has written with long time writing partner Bruce Gehweiler, but it also features a new novella which ties all the sub-plots of the series together. It’s fun for all!

xMarch 01, 2010

Hold on to your hats, gang, this is big news! At long last, the audio version of our boy CJ’s classic supernatural detective novel, "The Things That Are Not There," is available, and it is out of this world! Audiorealms’ CEO himself produced, directed, and even voiced the prologue for it due to his own love for the series. Word is he wanted to voice the entire book himself, but he bowed to logic when master voice talent Charles McKibben, one of the greats from the Mel Blanc Studio became available. We’ve listened to the entire nine hours, and in our estimation, the only problem it has is that it’s only nine hours long and not more! The production is available in CD form right here in our own store, with copies going out signed by CJ if requested (to sign one means taking off the shrink wrapping). And, it’s also available as a download at theaudiobookshop.com.

E-Yow, true believers ... what’re you waiting for?

xFebruary 23, 2010

Yes, we know this event is a ways off, and that all the conventions and shows where our boy CJ is going to appear get listed in the column over to the right ... but this one is so jammed packed with great stuff (with the promise of more great stuff on the way), and we just wanted to make certain everyone knew about it. This is a one-of-a-kind event, and even those with no interest in making their way to Maryland should still click in to see just how different a weekend can get.

February 10 , 2010

Every year our boy CJ makes certain he hits the Mid-Atlantic Nostalgia Convention. Because of all his work in the pulps, or with vintage television, like Kolchak: the Nightstalker, he's a natural for that show. They've gone after a great load of guests for this year and are close to signing a bunch of major talent, including Van Williams! With CJ penning the Green Hornet for Moonstone, this will be quite a meeting when they get together. Check out the Mid-Atlantic website in the upcoming CJH events section, or just keep monitoring this column for updates!

xJanuary 22 , 2010

Lots of people seem to be reacting to CJ's latest novel, "Brooklyn Knight." There's a lot of reviews out there already, but don't worry, we won't be linking you to all of those. One thing we would like everyone to see is what CJ and the amazing Cleo Coyle cooked up (no pun intended, actually), over at her wonderful Mystery Lovers Kitchen blog. This is a great site for those who like food scenes in their mysteries, or just love food period. Follow the link provided below and check it out. Every day is fun there, but forgive us if we're partial to their use of our boy CJ's work. http://www.mysteryloverskitchen.com/2010/01/ cold-day-soup-by-brooklyn-knight-cj.html

xJanuary 10 , 2010

For those of you that don't know it, the first new CJ Henderson series to hit the stores in ten years is there right now! "Brooklyn Knight" is the first novel in the Piers Knight series. Piers is a curator at the fabled Brooklyn Museum. Unlike Teddy London, Piers has no supernatural powers. But, he does know how to manipulate the energies needed to utilize the mystic shields and weapons that have been created over the centuries. And, having free reign over the hundreds of thousands of artifacts stored in his museum, he does have quite an arsenal to choose from. And, considering the amount of menaces from beyond he faces in the first book alone, it looks like he's eventually going to need all of them! Short stories with Piers have appeared in the collections "Degrees of Fear," "Spells in the City," "The Anthology of Dark Wisdom" and "The Supernatural Investigators of CJ Henderson." There's also another one coming from a Canadian publisher later this year in a collection entitled "Monster Hunters." So, get it from your local bookstore, grab it from the store right here on the site, get a nearby library to order it for you, but whatever you do, get a hold of this one now. From the reaction already it looks like this series is going to be around for a long time!
